Dr. Alan H. Porter is a veteran radiation oncologist and founder/director of Radiation Oncology Centers (Porter Radiation Oncology), which he established in the Sarasota area in 1975 and grew into four locations across Sarasota, Venice, Englewood, and Port Charlotte. He completed his entire training at the University of Florida, earning a BS in chemistry, an MS in radiation physics, and his MD, then serving as Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor, with additional training at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Board certified in radiology and a Fellow of the American College of Radiology, he brings roughly five decades of experience and is affiliated with HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital and Sarasota Memorial Hospital, with his main office at 3663 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota. Dr. Porter delivers a full range of radiation services, including IMRT, external-beam radiation therapy, 3D conformal radiation therapy, and prostate seed implants, with particular focus on breast, prostate, and head-and-neck cancers. He spent 15 consecutive years on the Best Doctors in America list and has held leadership roles as president of the American Cancer Society chapter, the Florida Radiological Society, the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Sarasota County Medical Society.
