About Dr. N.J. Farris

Sarasota Periodontal Associates is a periodontics and implant-surgery group that has served the Sarasota area since 1967, with offices in Sarasota, Lakewood Ranch, and Venice. Its senior partner, Dr. N. Joseph Farris, DDS, earned his dental degree with honors from the University of Missouri (1984) and completed periodontal specialty residency at LSU in New Orleans as chief resident, becoming the first periodontist in Sarasota County to achieve board certification in periodontology, in 1995. He and partners Dr. Gonzalez, Dr. Sharma, and Dr. Little are all board-certified by the American Board of Periodontology. The practice focuses on conservative and surgical treatment of gum disease, periodontal plastic and cosmetic microsurgery, pre-prosthetic surgery, regenerative procedures, and the placement of single and multiple dental implants. As one of the oldest and largest periodontal groups in the region, it concentrates on the surgical and foundational aspects of implant and gum care rather than general restorative dentistry.
